Throne of Glass by, Sarah J Maas Review
Ah yes, Throne of Glass, where do I start with this book? Well first of all, I didn't get the title, seeing as it's a castle of glass, not a throne of glass but that's a silly minor complaint. Second of all, when I got the books naturally, I noticed the girl on the cover, who has long blonde hair and light blue eyes, and the author also has long blonde hair and blue eyes.Coincidence? I don't think so, in which, it is a self-insert which is something that most writers do when they're twelve, also I don't know about you but this character design is used far too often. I mean, there are only so many combinations you can use, I get that. But, can you at least make your character a little different, please? Thirdly, the main character, Calena is a straw-feminist. for those of you that don't know what this means, it means she is a character that is described as being a "bad-ass female" all throughout the book yet she does nothing to live up to her description, which describes Calena perfectly. I mean, she was and assassin, for Pete's sake! All this time when she's talking about thinking of escaping she never even tries it yet she's supposedly supposed to be the kingdom's best assassin? If she's the kingdom's best assassin then shouldn't she be able to escape? Fourth of all, the villain was too obvious which, too me is lazy writing. I was able to pick the villain from when we first encountered his character. Fifth, it says that she's supposed to have " A heart of ice" yet she falls for the prince almost right away then later on, she falls for the captain of the guard. Does that sound like someone with a heart of ice? Thought not. But, the thing that bugged me the most about this book was that, about midway through to book the focus shifted from the challenges( the actual plot) to -insert sparkly girl eyes here- the romance! First half of the book each challenge was told in detail along with how she was struggling to get through it by about 3/4 of the way through it had changed to" There had been a challenge that day". Wow, just wow, that is horrid writing. Now onto another thing that has been nagging me about this book, one of the challenges is poison and Calena can't figure it our because she "wasn't good with poisons". Okay, what? Assassins are skilled in several ways of killing, that includes poisons, as well as using their body as a weapon. So, if she's such a great assassin then why doesn't she know about poisons? Exactly, she should if she's so great at killing. So when it comes down to it, the main character is a sue(much as I hate that overused term), the author was lazy while writing this and/or is just a bad writer.Which is sad because, this had the making to be a really good book, but Sarah made all the wrong choices and it came out like this. Overall rating; Two stars.

Hello!
Hi guys. So my name is Princess_Stardust and I'm just posting this to sort of say hi, since I just started this blog today. Anyhow, I'm going to be posting my first book review tomorrow and I'll be doing it on Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas, then sometime next week I'll be doing a game review of Aion and possibly Perfect World whenever I get around to it oh, and I'll also be doing a review of Incarceron by Catherine Fisher. So, that's what's up.
